Maybe if we, as American youth, hadn’t been brainwashed in the education system and instead was taught the basics (Geography!) we wouldn’t have had to question why we have elected this individual in the first place.

Cinco de Mayo IS NOT Mexico’s day of independence

Regardless of what everyone presumes, Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexico’s day of Independence.  In fact, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the U.S. more so than in Mexico.  In Mexico, it is more likely that Cinco de Mayo is not celebrated with any fan fare at all, depending on which providence you are in.

Furthermore, the United States and Abraham Lincoln actually helped Mexico gain their independence from the French which is celebrated on September 16th.

Cinco de Mayo has actually become more of an American celebration much like St. Patricks Day, Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day.  Another day of celebration that American capitalists have conjured up to lure Americans into spending their money to make up for the economically slow period that normally comes during these times of the year.  Get over it.
